D’Rovans Owner, Francis Aiyegbeni Is Dead!

The owner of the popular D’Rovans Hotel in Ibadan, Chief Francis Aiyegbeni is dead! He gave up the ghost on Saturday afternoon. It was exclusively informed that the boxing enthusiast was taken into the University College Hospital in Ibadan on Friday night after he had been treated to some extent at the Police Hospital in Eleyele in the same city. Our source told us that the owner of Walan Hotels was immediately taken into the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, of the sprawling hospital where he spent less than 24 hours before death came calling. A family source who wants to remain anonymous also confided in us that the business mogul had been struggling with partial stroke for some time before he had another crisis during the week and he was taken to the Police Hospital. It was when they discovered that he was not responding to treatment that he was referred to UCH.

However, a UCH source revealed to us that cardiac related issues were being treated at the ICU before he stopped breathing. Aiyegbeni, who played important roles to uplift the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) was reported to be 69 and is survived by wives, many children and grandchildren.
